Music
Music is a vital part of life and learning at Edward Feild. It helps to nurture creativity, confidence, and collaboration in every child. We believe that every pupil should have the opportunity to explore, create, and perform music, enriching their school experience and equipping them with skills for life. We aspire for every child to perform to an audience at least once a year.
We are proud to offer a comprehensive and vibrant music curriculum across all year groups.Lessons are built around singing, listening, composing, and performing. We follow a scheme that introduces children to a diverse range of musical styles, cultures, and historical periods, from classical masterpieces to modern pop and world music. Some of our units will also focus on learning an instrument in depth. At present, recorders and glockenspiels are taught in Years 3 & 4. Another popular part of our music offer is iRock who provide 30 minute rock and pop band sessions at an additional charge on a Friday afternoon.
We love to sing! We enjoy regular whole-school singing assemblies and actively teach children to sing in parts and perform songs in a variety of genres. We have an active choir who perform at local events such as the Kidlington Christmas Light Switch On and with other schools at The Big Sing. We also host a charity Christmas concert every year.
Should you be interested in additional music lessons for your child, we work with Oxfordshire County Music Services to facilitate lessons covering a wide variety of instruments. These will come at a cost to families.
