Safeguarding
Safeguarding children is the process of protecting them from harm, abuse, and neglect to promote their health, welfare, and development. It is a collective responsibility involving everyone who comes into contact with children and includes preventing impairment of their health and well-being, ensuring they grow up in a safe environment, and taking action to ensure the best possible outcomes for them.
It is everyone's responsibility.
Staff, children and parents are encouraged to share their concerns with a member of our safeguarding team, who are listed below. Alternatively, you can call the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 0345 050 7666 or the Emergency Duty Team on 0800833408 and discuss your concerns. If necessary you can do this without giving your name.
Parents and carers can contact the NSPCC helpline whenever they’re worried about a child by calling 0808 800 5000, emailing help@nspcc.org.uk, texting 88858* or online at https://www.nspcc.org.uk/what-you-can-do/report-abuse. The helpline is free, available 24/7 and calls can be made anonymously.

Edward Feild Primary School and Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and safeguarding procedures in place. We undertake rigorous checks on all staff and volunteers who work in our school and maintain a central record documenting these. Staff involved in recruitment and selection of employees are trained in safer recruitment, and all our staff and volunteers undertake in-house Child Protection training. All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to read the policies related to safeguarding in our 'Safeguarding an Inclusion Policies' area of the website - linked below.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
